Navigating the increasingly complex international scenarios of recent years, marked by pandemics and conflicts in various parts of the world, Soleterre’s global pediatric oncology program “Grande contro il Cancro” celebrated 14 years of concrete commitment to children with cancer in 2024.
In 2024 alone, the Soleterre Foundation supported 28,571 beneficiaries with care, guidance, and training across 7 countries – Italy, Ukraine, Palestine, Uganda, Morocco, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso – including 7,347 children and their families, thanks to collaboration with 22 partner organizations and an investment of over 1.2 million euros.
The experience gained in the field has prompted Soleterre to intensify its advocacy work in Italy, so that psychological support can become an integral part of the oncological journey. Unfortunately, in Italy, mental health is still treated as a luxury. In fact, eight out of ten children do not have access to free psychological support, which means their families must pay to access a fundamental right.
In Italy, Soleterre launched the “A Psychologist for Every Ward” campaign, which led to the approval of an amendment to the 2025 Budget Law, allowing for the hiring of psychologists in some of the public pediatric onco-hematology departments that need them most.
Every year, Soleterre publishes the “Grande contro il Cancro” report to show what can be achieved thanks to those who support us and to celebrate life together!
